Bali Tourism Polytechnic Launches “China Center” as a Training and Promotion Hub for China-Indonesia Tourism

Bali, June 1, 2025 – Bali Tourism Polytechnic (BiTP) Bali, in collaboration with Jiangxi Science and Technology University, has officially launched the “China Center” at Bali Tourism Polytechnic. This center serves as a hub for the development and training of tourism human resources (HR), as well as a collaborative space for cultural and tourism promotion between the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and Indonesia.

The inauguration of the China Center is a direct follow-up to the tourism cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed recently by President Prabowo Subianto and Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.

Director of Bali Tourism Polytechnic, Ida Bagus Putu Puja, during the inauguration ceremony on Sunday, June 1, 2025, emphasized that this collaboration is a strong testament to the shared commitment to strengthening inter-institutional cooperation in education.

“The establishment of the China Center is an international cooperation initiative that we welcome with great enthusiasm and high hopes,” said Ida Bagus Putu Puja.

The launch, which was also attended by delegates from Jiangxi Science and Technology University and officials from the Jiangxi Provincial Government, marks a significant milestone in expanding international collaboration, particularly in vocational education, tourism training, and the development of globally competitive human resources.

Programs offered by the China Center at Bali Tourism Polytechnic are collaborative in nature, including tourism education promotion, cultural exchange, industry integration, and the development of cooperation potentials between China and Indonesia.

The China Center also provides services such as Chinese cultural education, China information consultation, and training and education programs, accessible not only to Bali Tourism Polytechnic academic community but also to the general public.

“We believe that this collaboration between Bali Tourism Polytechnic and Jiangxi Science and Technology University will generate positive and mutually beneficial synergies, including student and faculty exchanges, joint training programs, collaborative research, and cross-cultural promotion,” added Ida Bagus Putu Puja.

The China Center is also expected to serve as a bridge that strengthens cultural, educational, and diplomatic ties between Indonesia and China, while opening opportunities for broader cooperation with other institutions in the future.

“We extend our gratitude to all parties who have contributed to the realization of this China Center. May this partnership continue to grow and provide sustainable benefits for education, industry, and society at large,” he said.

On the same occasion, Lu Xiaoqing, Minister of the Propaganda Department of the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee, stated that in recent years, under the strategic direction of the leaders of both nations, China-Indonesia bilateral relations have continued to expand across political, economic, and cultural domains, showing strong development momentum and entering a new phase of building a shared future for the people.

“President Xi Jinping emphasizes that the friendship between nations lies in the friendship between their people. Just like Jiangxi and Bali—both blessed with beautiful landscapes of mountains, rivers, and seas—I hope that the people of both places will frequently visit each other and become close friends. I also hope that this cooperation and exchange will yield more results and benefit our communities,” said Lu Xiaoqing.

A similar sentiment was echoed by Martini Mohamad Paham, Deputy for Human Resources and Institutions, Ministry of Tourism, who, in a statement from Jakarta, emphasized that developing human resource capacity and capability in tourism is a key factor in achieving high-quality and sustainable tourism in Indonesia.

Moreover, China remains one of the largest contributors of tourists to Indonesia.
In 2024, the number of Chinese tourist arrivals reached 1.19 million, a 52% increase from 2023.
In the first quarter of 2025, arrivals reached 279,040, up 1.15% compared to the same period in the previous year (275,863).

“The establishment of the China Center through collaboration between Bali Tourism Polytechnic and Jiangxi Science and Technology University is believed to significantly strengthen Indonesia’s tourism workforce. This cooperation is a strategic step in enhancing bilateral tourism relations and reinforces Indonesia’s position as a world-class tourism destination,” said Martini Paham.

The event also featured the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Bali Tourism Polytechnic and Jiangxi Science and Technology Normal University regarding the establishment and operations of the China Center.

Also present at the event were I Gusti Ayu Dewi Hendriyani, Assistant Deputy for Strategic Management, Ministry of Tourism, and Zhang Zhieng, Consul General of China in Denpasar.

The event was further attended by prominent figures such as Abraham Paul Liyanto, Member of the Indonesian Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) for the 2024–2029 period representing East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Belu Regent Willybrodus Lay, the Head of the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) for NTT Province, and university leaders from across NTT.
