Benchmarking Activities for Portfolio Development of The Impact Ranking and UI Greenmetric World University Ranking at NHI Tourism Polytechnic, Bandung.
On December 12, 2024, a team consisting of several members of the Bali Tourism Polytechnic traveled to Bandung to carry out benchmarking activities aimed at understanding the portfolio development strategies for The Impact Ranking and UI Greenmetric World University Ranking that have been implemented at the NHI Tourism Polytechnic in Bandung. This activity began with a trip from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS) to Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport, followed by a trip to Bandung using land transportation. Upon arrival in Bandung, the team held a discussion on benchmarking preparations and had dinner together before resting. The next day, December 13, 2024, the team continued the activity with breakfast and headed to the NHI Tourism Polytechnic in Bandung. In the benchmarking meeting, the team held discussions with a number of important officials, including Wadir 1 Mrs. Endang Komesty Sinaga, Secretary of the IPD Team for THE Impact Ranking Mr. Ahmad Assalam Djauhari, and Secretary of the IPD Team for UI Greenmetric Mrs. Arini.Â
Several things discussed were the achievements of Poltekpar NHI Bandung which has entered THE Impact Ranking with a ranking of 1,501+ and the development of portfolio submissions for UI Greenmetric which has reached the submission stage. However, there are several obstacles faced by Poltekpar NHI Bandung in carrying out the submission, such as the difficulty in obtaining the necessary data, the slow response from related departments, and the difficulty in understanding the ranking system and indicators. To overcome these obstacles, several recommended steps have been submitted, including the importance of strong commitment from management, with leaders becoming leaders who show that this ranking is very significant for the achievement of the institution. In addition, leaders are also expected to take innovative steps, such as changing working hours for energy efficiency or supporting data collection in a more assertive manner.Â
Mentoring by resource persons from universities that have succeeded in achieving rankings is also recommended to assist this process. In addition, socialization of global rankings and their importance to the entire academic community needs to be carried out, as well as the formation of a Working Group Team involving the parties providing the necessary data. Strict evaluation and monitoring by management regarding the progress of portfolio preparation is also expected to accelerate completion and facilitate the achievement of higher rankings.
