Student Mobility RP Singapore Activities, 03 September 2024

On September 3, 2024, Poltekpar Bali held a Student Mobility RP Singapore activity that introduced students from RP Singapore to traditional Balinese crafts. One of the interesting activities in this program was a florist workshop on making flowers from Balinese coconut leaves. Participants were given the opportunity to learn the technique of making flowers from coconut leaves which are often used in various Balinese traditional ceremonies. This workshop not only teaches manual skills, but also provides insight into the cultural and spiritual meaning contained in each work of art produced.
In addition, this activity also invites participants to make decorative hangers, which are part of Balinese handicrafts that are often used to decorate homes or sacred places. Students from Poltekpar Bali and RP Singapore work together to make various types of decorative hangers made from natural materials, such as coconut leaves and preserved flowers. This manufacturing process requires precision and creativity, which provides first-hand experience of Balinese art and culture which is rich in symbolism and aesthetic value.
Through this activity, students not only gain practical experience in making Balinese handicrafts, but can also better understand the uniqueness of Balinese culture which is closely related to the daily lives of its people. This Student Mobility activity is expected to strengthen the relationship between students from both countries, improve their practical skills, and provide insight into the importance of preserving culture through handicrafts. This program is a real example of mutually enriching international collaboration, opening up opportunities for further development in the fields of tourism and culture.
